Work Title: “Coexistence of Light and Shadow”
Creation time: 2007
Work Category: Metal Abstract Sculpture
Work size: Each piece is approximately 0.5m0.61m
Materials of the work: Metal, electric welding
Creation Note: “Light and Shadow Coexistence” uses electric welding as the pen and metal as the ink, reconstructing the steel skeleton of the city in the sparks and heat of welding. The cooled grids and surfaces cast sharp or soft shadows under natural light or artificial illumination. As the light swirled, solid and virtual images alternated on the wall – the hard metal seemed to flow, while the illusory light and shadow gained sharp Outlines. This work is no longer merely a static form, but an immediate dialogue among space, materials and lighting. It captures those often overlooked moments in modern cities: when the slanting rays of dawn and dusk cut through buildings, and when night lights paint scaffolding into golden spider webs. Here, light and shadow are no longer appendages but another form of architecture that coexists and thrives with metal, revealing the poetics in which reality and illusion nourish each other in our habitat.
